Aisha

Aisha joined me to share her natural hair journey for this series. For those who have followed my work you’re bound to have seen the beautiful Aisha as she’s been my muse for just about 5 years now. Also a childhood friend and former day gig coworker she shares her natural hair journey with us and even goes into depth about what it’s like when you’re a naturalista of mixed heritage. Seeing how society immediately believes that if your hair texture is similar to Europeans, Asians or Latin then it’s already considered good hair with no need of chemicals.

She not only dispels those rumors but shares her struggle with being on the fence of going natural or not. Going natural due to her hair was breaking off with the stress of taking care of her 90 year old grandfather that with being a single parent and a full time student with a full time job. So when her hair started breaking off she cut it all off which was a change since she was using perms since she was 14.

Now her hair has grown and is stronger than ever and reaches down between her shoulderblades. The response from friends and family was that she should have went natural a long time ago.

Check the video below to hear it from her.

I’m a man that’s the perfect combination of intelligence, wit , talent, depression, humility, passion, determination, handsomeness, conceit, strength, rationale, and generosity. Yeah, that sounds about right. Other than my love for photography, I have an uncanny knack for being a smart ass, but I don’t mean any harm. I just have minimum control over what I’m thinking and how rapidly it makes it out of my mouth! Otherwise I’m one hell of a friend and I love to entertain.
